Access to Digital Resources
The Flexible Learning Advisory Group (FLAG) plays a key role in supporting access to quality resources for e-learning through LORN. LORN is designed to be the major source of e-learning and assessment resources for the national training system. By using the ‘Search’ mechanism on the LORN website, users can access, purchase and download resources from multiple repositories via a single desktop interface.
The LORN Steering Committee is chaired by FLAG Chair, Rod Arthur, and the Committee guides the development of a growing network currently comprising five state/territory repositories and two national repositories.
LORN reflects a February 2006 decision by the National Senior Officials Committee (NSOC) to make content repositories available through a single national e-learning resource infrastructure. Under FLAG’s strategic guidance, LORN is fulfilling that vision through national collaboration. With its beginnings as a project of the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework), LORN has reached maturity as a mainstream component of the national vocational education and training (VET) e-learning infrastructure.
