E-learning Innovations
Since 2000, the Flexible Learning Advisory Group (FLAG) has enabled leading edge innovation through the activities of the Australian Flexible Learning Framework Strategy (Framework). Through New Practices in Flexible Learning projects (2000-2007), the Framework funded innovative, practical and sustainable approaches to e-learning in workplaces, communities and training organisations. New Practices also invested in leading edge technological experimentation and design.
In the 2008-2011 Framework Strategy, E-learning Innovations has been established to integrate and embed e-learning into the national training system. In this context, innovation is focused on extending e-learning practice to new delivery settings i.e. introducing e-learning to either a partner organisation or to new groups of enrolled students in new teaching/industry areas for that Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The focus is on training solutions and change management to embed the use of e-learning, rather than technological design and experimentation.
Innovations will be driven by the needs of clients for support and assistance in implementing e-learning. States/territories will be allocated funds to disperse through merit-based selection processes to projects that:
• Invest strategically in business-training provider partnerships that address a genuine business case for e-learning, or
• Support RTOs to tailor their services to a more diverse range of learner needs through the implementation of innovative e-learning practices.
Recipients of funding will be expected to engage with the national e-learning infrastructure such as e-standards, teaching and learning resources and professional networks when framing their e-learning solutions.
