Raymond Garrand
Raymond Garrand was appointed Chief Executive of the South Australian Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology in 2008.
Prior to this Raymond had 4 years experience as Chief Executive of the Department of Trade and Economic Development and therefore brings a very strong economic focus to the portfolio.
Mr Garrand holds an Economics Honours Degree and has been a member of the South Australian Government’s Higher Education Council and Education Adelaide Board for several years and been actively involved in various other boards including working with the South Australian Economic Development Board.
Mr Garrand has had a combination of both private sector and public sector experience across a number of jurisdictions with experience in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in Canberra and as an economic advisor to Governments in South Australia and Queensland.
South Australia has set very ambitious targets in terms of e-learning and Raymond was keen to take on the role of Chair of FLAG given the significance of flexible learning to achieving national aspirations with respect to skills and increasing productivity, participation and regional delivery of tertiary education.
