Roger Bryett

Roger Bryett served as a commissioned officer within the Australian Defence Force from 1983 until 2004. He has deployed on operational tours to Africa, the Middle East, Asia, USA and UK. During this period he studied Strategic Studies at the University of Malaysia, lectured in Strategic Planning at the Australian Command and Staff College, Canberra and lectured at the US Command and War College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on Strategic Planning.

In December, 2002 he was selected to command Australia’s Northern Surveillance Unit, the North West Mobile Force responsible for the protection of the northern approaches to Australia and an area of operations covering thirty percent of the continent. The unit is 850 strong of which 600 are Indigenous soldiers.

In early 2004, he left the Australian Defence Force to join the NT Government as the Director of Training. He represented the NT on a number of national bodies including ICT, Flexible Learning, Infrastructure and Indigenous capacity building.

In November, 2005 he moved to Guangzhou, China and consulted to the Australian Trade Commission and the United Nations Trade Authority on Workforce Development and Training design for multi- national companies entering the China market. He also established a training company to support these clients.

In December 2007 he returned to Australia and consulted to ASX 200 listed companies on workforce design and change management. In October 2008 he returned to the NT Department of Education and Training as Director Training.

He holds a Bachelor of Management from the University of New England, NSW, a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies from the University of Malaysia and a Masters of International Relations from Deakin University, Melbourne.

He is also a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Roger believes that the future of e-learning lies in bridging the geographical and cultural divide in rural and remote Australia.
